IP and Patents
With a proud legacy dating back to our days as part of Bell Labs and Telcordia, and as underscored by more than 1900 patents, Applied Communication Sciences’ research covers a broad spectrum of critical technologies. While our current focus is on voice and data communications technology, it’s probable that you're using Applied Communication Sciences Network Software, Network Hardware or Computer Sciences patented products. Some of the areas in which Applied Communication Sciences holds patents and intellectual property include:
Networking
- ATM, IP, Sonet, VLAN and Optical are only a few of the categories in which we hold Networking patents and intellectual property. We were the first to demonstrate mobile and secure IP. In the same year, working with Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc., we provided the first available support of TMF 814. As a result, Service Providers will benefit from successful interoperability of Element and Network Management Systems.
Mobility
- Today, emergency workers and our armed forces are able to coordinate and act more effectively thanks to our recent efforts with wireless networks. We have also made notable advances in 4G and beyond.
Semiconductor Devices & OEIC's
- Our work in the area of Displays supported the development of MPEG and other efficient digital video standards allowing audio-visual information to be compressed and transmitted over widely available digital communications lines. Our efforts can also be seen in the area's of Lasers, Batteries, and Software.
Call Processing
- Our efforts in Call Processing ensure that the 800 database can process calls without service interruptions.
Security
- Our security efforts have reduced security policy configuration time from months to minutes and demonstrated successful detection of hostile attacks. Quantum cryptography breakthrough demonstration we demonstrated a provable unbreakable code.
Database and Network Management
- Applied Communication Sciences has also been active in licensing its technologies, including creating a number of new companies in the areas of optical networking, wireless network management and network software tools.
- Across these initiatives, Applied Communication Sciences continues to leverage its intellectual property and patents to provide our customers and partners with the knowledge needed to make optimal use of mature and emerging technologies.
